I am not one to be wild. In fact, I am probably one of the most clean cut, good girl types you have ever met. I only have my ears single pierced, no tattoos and have only highlighted my hair. When I came to LCF, I was shocked by the amount of innovative looks and styles I saw. From crazy rainbow color hair to intresting outfit pairings, I knew it was time for me to branch out and try something new.
I will never forget what Basisa, our study abroad advisor, told us on the first day of orientation. "Want to dye your hair? Get a tattoo? Change your look? Do it now. London is the most accepting place in the world when it comes to style. Now is the time to experiment."
She was right! Why not find my personal style? Why not experiement with my look and find new inspiration? I am 21 years old living in the most beautiful city in the world and it was time to try something crazy. Scrolling through Pintrest, I found a rose gold hair color that looked gorgeous on blondes. The more I looked at the rose gold, the more I fell in love. I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I showed the mates, they instantly told me to go for it. After debating and debating, my mate Jane said she wanted to do it with me. We booked our appointment and finally took the plunge last Friday.
Things I have learned with my new hair are as follows:
1) A non-edgy girl CAN pull of slightly edgy hair. Even though my hair isn't hot pink, the pink tint still makes me feel awesome. My style instantly became cooler.
2) People take second looks at you. It makes you stand out from the crowd and can be a pretty good feeling walking through a crowd knowing you are totally rocking your look.
3) It is ok to try something new just for yourself. This is the first thing I have ever done truly because I wanted to do it. I wanted to try something that would look beautiful. I wanted to express myself. Dying my hair was a small step but now I have the confidence to try somethig new everyday.
Thanks for keeping up with my adventures! More to come soon because the mates and I started planning spring break and it is going to be incredible. Keep checking for my new posts about my favorite places in London as well.
