2018 Goals and Resolutions

January 8, 2018

Hello readers! After a month of not writing and posting, I am finally ready to get back out there in the blogging world. As many of my followers know, I work in the retail world while pursuing my passion of writing and I have been struggling with finding balance between the two. December was an insane month at my day job and I decided to stop and refocus my blogging values instead of pumping out content like a machine. I am happy to be back with a refreshed mindset and excited to create what I am excited about.

I am normally not one for resolutions because I set goals for myself all year round. But after a challenging 2017, I felt it was time to explore some new goals I have always wanted to try. While I felt I achieved a lot in 2017, 2018 is all about refocusing my priorities. It is time to recenter not only my mind but my values, lifestyle, goals and more. Here are my 5 goals or resolutions I want to make happen in 2018.

1) Say "Yes" to more

All my life I have felt like a "yes" man and over the years as I got older, I got overwhelmed by all the commitments I had made. Last year, I did the opposite goal and say "no" to more things and only said "yes" to things I wanted to do. While I felt more calm, collected and in control, I fell into a world of missing out. I found that while saying "no" did wonders for my stress levels it also created a negative outlook on certain activities. I want to say "yes" in moderation. "Yes" to that coffee date. "Yes" to that blogging collaboration or outreach. "Yes" to gaining control of what I want. This year is all about stepping outside of my comfort zone and saying "yes" to adventure and risk taking. I already have started to committing to this goal by saying "yes" to the Create and Cultivate conference in LA in February where I will be flying solo at this conference. Scary and exciting, I am ready for this years risks.

2) Ask for what I want

I noticed in 2017 that I missed opportunities in fear of asking to much. I never want to come off pushy or rude when I ask for what I want. But why is that? The answer: I don't know. I don't know why I fear asking because there is no reason behind it. It is an irrational fear. So in 2018, it is time to ask. Time to ask for the time off I deserve from work. Time to ask for the advancement I want with my blog and time to ask for what I want to eat when my boyfriend asks me where I want to go (spoiler alert: it will always be Mexican food). No more living in fear and time to get the rewards I deserve.

3) Dedicate at least 10-30 minutes to my blog

This goal is going to be hard for me but it is important for me to start writing everyday. I want this business to grow and I cannot achieve that unless I create. I always use the excuse of "I am tired" or "I don't have anything to write about" but the excuses are just me being lazy. I am excited to get back and create all types of content for you readers. Being able to connect with you is my favorite thing.

4) Don't worry about what others want

In the blogging world, you feel pressure to be the most perfect blogger there is. Never have a bad hair day, always wear the most fashionable outfit and have the best makeup. I will tell you now, this can get exhausting. I want to show the readers what I love. What I wear on a daily basis and how I take care of my skin. I don't want to care about if my photos aren't perfect or if what I wrote is "likeable". Those of you who like my blog, I want you to like me for me and not for what I look like.

5) Reconnect

This word is going to be my word for 2018. I want to reconnect with readers. With old friends. With those who have maybe I haven't spoken to in a long time. I am challenging myself to answer every email, text, comment or call that comes my way. I am never to busy not to be nice and answer questions. I am excited to see what friendships come out of this year.

These are my resolutions and I look forward to seeing how my goals influence my life. I can't wait to share my 2018 journey with all of you.
